When having
lunch or dinner, your biggest problem will be to decide which
dish to have, because the city of La Paz offers
a varied gastronomic menu that includes the best of the Bolivian
traditional dishes, the most exquisite selection of international
pottages and, also, the modern fast food.
But if what
you want is to experience the flavor of the food of La
Paz, it is recommendable to taste the chairo, a soup
made of chuño (dehydrated potato), lamb meat, soaked chalona
(dry meat), potato and carrot, among other ingredients, or the
fricassee, a typical plate with pork meat, white corn and chuño
seasoned with yellow pepper.
It is advisable
to have only slight foods during the first days, avoiding on this
way to be affected by the height, since the digestion is slower
in places located at several thousands meters above sea level.
